Director of Social Media & Content

Full-Time position in Buffalo

The Martin Group is seeking candidates for a Director of Social Media & Content position to join our growing integrated communications agency, which is headquartered in Buffalo, NY, with offices in Rochester, NY and Albany, NY.

Our ideal candidate possesses skills/knowledge in social media and content strategy, content creation and client relations, and has the ability to balance multiple project assignments and priorities. This position requires strong communication, organization, editorial strategy, and time management skills, and will entail working with our content creators, paid social strategists, and creative and account team members to help manage clients’ social media initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement social media strategies for clients across various industries and agency verticals on platforms that include Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, and Snapchat
  • Think inventively regarding the usage of blogs, whitepapers, e-books, videos, and other editorial pieces to create cohesive content strategies
  • Manage client relationships and handle communicating project updates/monthly reports
  • Work with TMG’s business development team on content strategies for RFP responses and proposals for potential new clients
  • Deep familiarity with social media space and experience managing multiple platforms at once across several campaigns/projects
  • Ability to track/analyze social media analytics to improve strategy/optimize performance
  • Strong written communication skills adaptable to various campaigns, industries, platforms, and audiences, with the ability to synthesize information quickly and communicate complex topics
  • Knowledge of news and digital trends and tactics, with the ability to mobilize audience participation and engagement, and develop social media content and editorial pieces
  • Interest in high energy workplace environment and generating positive ROI for clients across social media channels
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently yet within a larger team
  • Ability to confidently present recommendations and strategies to clients in formal group meeting and conference call formats
  • Interest in contributing to agency brainstorming to ensure deployment of cutting-edge tactics and ideas
  • Ability to collaborate with the agency’s traffic, creative and production teams on social media and content marketing projects and design/collateral as needed
  • Ability to continually assess and contribute to our agency’s social media and content marketing activities and approaches in response to newsworthy events, thought leadership and changes in trends, services and client work

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in PR, communications, marketing, journalism or related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience creating and managing social media and content strategy
  • Knowledge and interest in current affairs, news media, and social media trends
  • Optimally 6-10 years’ experience in the field of content and social media marketing
  • Energy, enthusiasm, and ability to interact with colleagues at all levels
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain project, time, and expense reports for maximum efficiency and profitability, while keeping consistent record of activity
