Turkey Trots & New Years Resolutions with YMCA Buffalo Niagara

2 min read
December 27, 2017

Our client YMCA Buffalo Niagara has so many things going for it, not the least of which is longevity.

Locally founded in 1852, this community based organization provides programs designed to build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. It’s signature event is a time honored tradition in Buffalo that has become part of the community fabric: the annual YMCA Turkey Trot.

This November’s race attracted 14,000 participants and marked the 122nd running of the “trotters”, making it the longest consecutive footrace in North America. Regardless of the weather or the amount of snow, nothing stops the community from coming out for this fundraiser and the fun that follows at the post-race party.

YMCA Buffalo Niagara is at the forefront of health and wellness for individuals and for families. At the Y, it’s not about fitting a particular mold or looking a certain way; it’s about creating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle for all. During 2017 the local Association piloted The Enhance® Fitness Program to combat arthritis through regular, low-intensity physical activity, offered Growing Up Fit – an innovative weight management program for children ages six through 13 and their families—and launched a new, updated version of its iconic swim lesson program which teaches thousands of people each year.

The new year is the most popular time to adopt wellness-related resolutions. Consider all the options available through YMCA Buffalo Niagara and start 2018 off right in body, mind, and spirit. Happy New Year!
